He had given her a rose that day. The rose was bright red and its stem was bright green. It was one of the most beautiful roses I had ever seen in my life.
I had never gotten a rose from anyone before; let alone any other kind of flower. I wish I had though because I love roses. Looking at them makes me happy.
I wanted him to give me that rose, but it was a wishful thinking of mine. He loved her, and I could see it in his eyes. I could see the twinkle, the smile, the way his eyes wandered over to her lips as if he was thirsty.
I wonder if he would look at me the same way if I was next to him…would he look at my lips and would he be intrigued?
I know I would. I know that I wouldn’t be able to hold back because he had the most beautiful smile in the world. Like a portrait that you can’t take your eyes off of.
He walked away with her; while laughing and holding her pretty hands. I looked on from far away because that’s what I’m good at.
I didn’t stalk them. No. I just happened to come to the same place at the same time. It was pure coincidence, or so I would like to think.
There was nothing between us. We were simple strangers living in a complex world. Just like the fragile petals of the rose, we were just waiting for our hearts to be broken one day.
